History of Ryan Brothers

RBA HistoryMadison's oldest ambulance service, Ryan Brothers Ambulance, was founded in 1962 by brothers Pat
and Paul Ryan.  At the time, there was no 911 system and the fire department did not operate ambulances.  Through the years, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), as well as Ryan Brothers, has changed a great deal.

Unfortunately, Paul Ryan passed away in 1994 and was unable to see the significant growth Ryan Brothers has experienced over the past 15 years.  While Pat Ryan still maintains a significant presence in the office, Pat's sons, Erin and Patrick, began the succession process and bought the company in 2004.

Ryan Brothers operates at all levels of EMS, including Paramedic & Critical Care.  We have 3 stations in Madison and, with a fleet of 15 ambulances, provide interfacility transfers to a 100 mile radius of Madison.  This includes trips between hospitals, clinics, assisted living facilities and nursing homes.  Since 2002, we have operated a station in Fort Atkinson. There, we provide 911 services to the City and surrounding towns, as well as interfacility transports to the hospital and throughout Jefferson County.  In July 2008, we opened our 5th station in Deerfield. This location allows for easy access in both directions to improve response times to both Dane and Jefferson counties. In June of 2010, we will open our 6th station in Sun Prairie.

Everyday, all of our 80 employees strive to uphold the principals, as expressed in our Mission Statement, with which Paul & Pat Ryan founded the company.

“Ryan Brothers Ambulance strives to provide the highest quality pre-hospital patient care with skill, professionalism, and compassion. This is achieved by placing our patients’ needs first, and treating every patient as if they were a member of our own family.”
